Doordarshan is an autonomous public service broadcaster founded by the Government of India, which is one of two divisions of Prasar Bharati.It is one of India’s largest broadcasting organisations in terms of studio and transmitter infrastructure, having been established on 15 September 1959. It also broadcasts on digital terrestrial transmitters. DD provides television, online and mobile services throughout metropolitan and regional India, as well as overseas, through the satellite network.

On 1st June 1987, Jaipur Doordarshan Kendra was set up at Jhalana Doongri and transmission started on 6th July 1987. Initially the Kendra produced only 30 minutes of programming and this was gradually increased to about 4 hours. From 2nd Oct. 1993, the LPT’S located at Ajmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner and HPT at Bundi were connected with DDK Jaipur via satellite.

 Today DD Rajashthan is a 24 hours channel and is available on DTH and Cable Networks .

DD Rajasthan produces popular shows like Krishi Darshan and Choupal on Rural development, Dharti Dhora Ri ,  Lok Geet ,and Lok  Nritya and  Shahar Apna highlighting the rich heritage of Rajasthan, Swasth Desh a programme on health . Shiksha Jagat, Vigyan Jagat , Beech Bahas , Amne Samne, Prashnottari  etc. are other  popular programmes of the Channel.
